Garmin 1350LMT Review

You can read some Garmin 1350LMT Review from satisfied user of this GPS below.  Hope it can helps you to make the right buying decision about this GPS.

By Loves Targeet (San Jose, CA).

I have had a Garmin for several years now and it was time to get a new model. The old one was no longer holding a charge and by the time I added up the cost of repair and new maps, a new one made sense. I thought about just getting one of the newer smart phones, since I have heard many have great mapping capability, but decided to stick with Garmin and specifically the nuvi 1350 LMT for the following reasons:
1) Driving is something you should do singlemindedly without having your driving directions interrupted by incoming calls or texts or whatever else you have your smart phone doing for you.
2) I feel Garmin made me a better driver – you can plan ahead for lane changes and turns, know how long it will take to get somewhere so you don’t speed, and not be stressed out if you miss a turn. I didn’t feel like researching whether or not a smartphone would do all that for me as well.
3) My old Garmin had bluetooth and audio and mp3 capability which was unusable because of speaker quality. I am sure that all those other things are done better by smart phones and other devices. The 1350 just has driving directions, which is just fine. The speaker quality is still poor in terms of meeting entertainment quality, but good enough for driving directions.
4) I use my Garmin by first reading through the turn by turn directions to get a general sense, and from there on, just listening to voice prompts. This Garmin always voices street names as you are coming up to them, I wouldn’t be able to use the types that just tell you to “turn here” or “take next turn”. too confusing.
5) had traffic updates through MSN on the old Garmin, and after the first year, never was able to get that going again. Traffic updates is a useful feature on my new Garmin again, not 100% accurate, but it does help.
6) Updating maps was expensive before, and given the huge amount of road reconstruction going on in the US right now, I am very pleased to have lifetime maps. I can get updates 4 times a year so while I fully expect lags, I feel like I am much more likely to get accurate info. Seems like Garmin has improved overall on this. Points of interest are much better now I notice, the information on car washes, restaurants, etc much more accurate and timely even compared to right after I would update maps before.
7) My husband and I had researched GPS brands extensively when we bought his a year ago, and Garmin came out top of the heap. I didn’t even bother to look at other brands this time.
8) Love the new cord interface to the power plug, much more streamlined. The suction cup on the window set up actually worked, which was cool because my first one didn’t.
9) Easy to set up, good customer service from Garmin when I registered for lifetime maps and ran into a little bug. By the way another user review on this model said something about having to register through the mail for lifetime updates, not my experience it was all done on line.
Only downsides so far:
1) The American english voice is slightly jarring/annoying. Get new voice talent Garmin!
2) There should have been a better deal available for old Garmin users to get a new unit. Tradein value or something.
